One person was killed and two others were injured following an early-morning shooting in Janesville on Sunday, prompting a police investigation into what authorities described as an isolated incident.
Officers were dispatched shortly after 12:30 a.m. to the 100 block of South Academy Street after receiving a report of a disturbance. Before officers arrived, the call was upgraded to reports of shots fired.
When police reached the scene, they found three shooting victims. All three were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment.
One of the victims later died from a gunshot wound, according to police. The other two victims suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening.
